Most children love playing with balls. As they play, the learn how natural forces such as gravity and friction affect how balls move. They also learn how to make balls, marbles and other rolling objects change speed and direction. This study shows how you can use your child's natural interest in a common toy to explore social studies and science concepts. They will also practice skills in literacy, math, technology and the arts.

INVESTIGATION: WHEELS

The world runs on wheels, from car tires, to stroller wheels and bicycle wheels, wheels are all around us. A study of wheels helps children expand their understanding of wheels and discover the wide variety of wheels in their school and community. In this study, children will discover the physical attributes of different types of wheels, investigate how they move and learn the many ways people use them. They will also use language and literacy, mathematics, the arts and science and technology to investigate wheels in the world around them.
